Bei Chen (北辰）, as the rising star of the Chengdu Panda Base, is only three years old but has already attracted a large number of panda fans and visitors to the base, making him a future top-tier panda celebrity.
This handsome panda boy was born on July 10, 2022, at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. He is the son of Bei Chuan（北川）, a panda at the Chengdu Panda Base. Bei Chuan, originally from the wild, was rescued after the Wenchuan earthquake and moved to the Panda Base for captive care. Known for her striking beauty, she is hailed as the "Belle of the Base." Having lived in the wild for an extended period earlier in her life, she also possesses a robust physique. As a result, Bei Chen, who inherits her genes, boasts both a beautiful face and impressive strength, making him particularly active among pandas of his age.
Why is Panda Bei Chen So Popular?
1. Sweet Appearance
Bei Chen inherits his mother Bei Chuan’s excellent genes, making him exceptionally good-looking and earning him the title of the base’s handsome panda. Among the many giant pandas, Bei Chen stands out with his round, bun-like face and sweet smile. His soft, cuddly body and cheerful expression bring a sense of joy and healing to everyone, which is why he is affectionately called "Little Sweet Bun."
2. Outgoing Personality
Inheriting his mother Bei Chuan’s traits, Bei Chen loves playing and sleeping on perches and is full of energy. Growing up alongside peers like Wen Jing, Huan Cai, and Jia Xin, Bei Chen has developed a lively and playful personality, often seen frolicking and having fun with his companions. His extroverted nature brings endless joy to visitors.
3. Unique Upbringing
During the newborn period, Bei Chen and his twin brother Bei Xia were born at the same time. However, due to Bei Chuan’s aggressive behavior toward her cubs, little Bei Chen did not have his mother’s companionship from a young age, which fostered his independence early on.
In his infancy, Bei Chen began to demonstrate self-reliance. As he had not yet been weaned and had a habit of suckling on his companions, he had to live alone, making him feel even more isolated compared to other pandas of the same age.
4. Clingy Behavior
Since childhood, little Bei Chen has lived with other panda cubs in the kindergarten area without his mother’s company. This upbringing has made him particularly clingy, especially toward his friends like Wen Jing and the keepers. In videos of Bei Chen, he can often be seen sticking close to others, relying on them, and acting like a baby who loves to be pampered.
You can see that Beichen is lively and active, and his clingy personality is mainly due to the lack of his mother's companionship since childhood. However, he is still a kind and lovely panda, which is also why he is loved and noticed by everyone.
