Super Cute Red Pandas Have Become "Endangered Animals"

Red panda, also known as Lesser Panda, is an endemic species in Asia. Its origin is located in the eastern the Himalayas and southwest China, and it is the only surviving species in the genus of red panda.

The body size of a red panda is similar to that of a cat, with markings on its face, white around its mouth and beard, and a red brown tail. The average weight of a red panda is about 4.5 kilograms, and its lifespan can reach 13 years.
Habits: In the wild, small pandas are a true solitary animal, inhabiting trees or bamboo for most of the day. The period from dusk to dawn is their main activity period.

Food, red pandas are omnivores! The main food for red pandas is bamboo shoots and leaves, as well as insects and birds.

Standing Red Panda: The physical movement of standing with the front feet raised, which is the response of a red panda when it perceives danger and threat, and is startled.

Red pandas were once regarded as excellent raw materials for making hats and fur coats due to their smooth fur. The sharp decline in the number of wild red pandas is closely related to illegal hunting behavior. Scientists speculate that there are less than 10000 wild red pandas in the world. In 2015, the World Conservation Union adjusted the endangered status of red pandas from "vulnerable" to "endangered", and their living conditions are even more severe than those of giant pandas.

"Protecting biodiversity and super cute red pandas"

In October 2021, the State Council released the White Paper on Biodiversity Conservation in China, which emphasized the concept of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. The loss of biodiversity and ecosystem degradation pose significant risks to human survival and development, and everyone should establish the concept of respecting, adapting to, and protecting nature. For the protection of red pandas, we should:
1. Do not purchase or raise: Red pandas are second level protected animals in China, and individuals are strictly prohibited from illegally raising or selling them. When we discover any transaction clues related to red pandas, we should immediately contact the local government's forestry department, report any violations of the Wildlife Protection Law, and boycott the hunting and selling activities of red pandas.
2. Enhance environmental awareness: not only appreciate the cute appearance of red pandas, but also participate in the protection of red pandas, actively learn environmental protection related knowledge, participate in environmental protection activities organized by schools, communities, and work units, maintain the natural environment, promote the healthy development of red panda populations, and help restore the habitat of red pandas.
3. Participation in Red Panda Conservation Bases: There are more than 40 red panda conservation bases in China, and one can exert their strength by participating in volunteer activities at these bases. It is worth noting that during visits and volunteer activities, we should consciously avoid affecting the normal life of red pandas, in order to maintain their physical and mental health.
The world is a global village where humans coexist with multiple species. "All things receive their own harmony for survival, and each receives their own nourishment for success." Biodiversity makes the earth full of vitality and is also the foundation for human survival and development.

Let's protect every living creature in our Earth home together!
