Bienvenido a Madrid! Panda Jin Xi and Panda Zhu Yu

     On 29 of April, pandas "Jinxi" and "Zhu Yu" will embark on a 10 year stay at the Madrid Zoo in Spain. On March 1, 2024, Beijing time, a family of five giant pandas named "Hua Zuiba" (including "Bing Xing", "Hua Zuiba" and their three cubs "Zhu Lina", "Jiu Jiu", and "You You") living in the zoo returned to China. The Madrid Zoo held a grand farewell ceremony for them.

      Jin Xi, a male giant panda, was born on September 1, 2020 with his twin sister "Jin Shuang" at the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base.

      Zhu Yu (also known as Guo Guo), a female giant panda, was born on October 25, 2020 with her twin brother Qing Chongyang at the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base. Because the panda twins were born on the Double Ninth Festival, they had the nickname "Chong Yang" (also known as "Qiang Qiang") and "Zhu Yu" (Guo Guo).


      The Spanish zoo has stated that it is fully prepared for the arrival of a new batch of giant pandas and looks forward to their arrival.

A: Veterinary Doctor Wang: We have conducted quarantine and quarantine on two giant pandas as required. During this period, we will conduct physical examinations on both pandas. For this itinerary, the team will be prepared, anticipate emergency situations, and prepare emergency equipment, medication, etc.

Q: What food have you prepared for the two pandas?
A: Based on the needs of pandas and the basic transportation situation, our team has prepared fresh local Sichuan food that is currently being harvested for pandas to consume on the plane.

Q: What are the transportation and medical guarantees for land and air transportation?
A: During the land transportation phase, the team prepared four vehicles, including two for transporting pandas, one as a backup and the other as an emergency rescue vehicle. The veterinarian followed the entire process and three professional technical experts escorted the pandas to Spain.
