Hong Kong Ocean Park Will Welcome A New Pair Of Pandas

According to a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government on the 1st, the central government has agreed to once again donate a pair of giant pandas to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The SAR government thanks the central government and has begun preparations to welcome the arrival of giant pandas in Hong Kong.

The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, expressed sincere gratitude to the central government for once again presenting a pair of giant pandas to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The SAR government will make every effort to prepare for the reception of giant pandas.

The panda keeper at Hong Kong Ocean Park said that this new pair of pandas will continue the mission of An An Jia Jia and Ying Ying Le Le, bringing joy and environmental protection messages to everyone.

In 1999, giant pandas An An and Jia Jia arrived in Hong Kong by special plane and were sent to Ocean Park, welcoming the arrival of the pandas throughout the city. Under careful care, two giant pandas passed away at an advanced age,
Among them, Jia Jia, the giant panda, is the world's longest lived giant panda under human care (38 years old), and An An, who died at the age of 35, is the world's longest lived captive male giant panda.



In 2007, the giant panda Ying Ying and the giant panda Le Le, respectively, were gifted to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland; Their names were selected from a naming competition in which Hong Kong people participated, symbolizing happiness and happiness.

After the Wenchuan earthquake, Hong Kong aided the construction of Wolong Panda Base. In order to express gratitude to the Hong Kong government and the Hong Kong people, Sichuan Shenshuping Giant Panda Park and Dujiangyan Irrigation Project Giant Panda Park are permanently open to Hong Kong compatriots free of charge.
