In April 2010, an injured wild giant panda was discovered in Xiaoba Township, Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County. After examination, its liver, gallbladder, and pancreas were severely damaged and it was quickly sent to the Chengdu Panda Base for treatment. It is the first critically ill wild giant panda rescued in Beichuan County after the May 12th Wenchuan earthquake. In commemoration of this event, it was named "Bei Chuan", hoping that it will always remember its hometown. In the subsequent treatment process, experts not only treated "Bei Chuan" with medication, but also artificially added a lot of refined feed to change its long-term malnutrition caused symptoms, which made "Bei Chuan" dependent on humans to a certain extent. After more than a year of treatment, "Bei Chuan"'s physical condition has greatly improved, but according to blood results and ultrasound examination, it has not yet reached normal levels and still requires long-term medication for recuperation. Therefore, after reporting to the superior supervisory unit and organizing experts to discuss, it was unanimously decided to continue keeping "Bei Chuan" in Chengdu, with the number "765", officially included in the lineage of captive giant pandas. When he was first rescued, "Bei Chuan" was very thin, but now Bei Chuan is like a balloon filled with air, with a round face and fluffy facial hair that looks like a bun, so everyone gave it a nickname called "Chuan Baozi". However, "Bei Chuan" is an authentic wild giant panda, and although it has been artificially raised for many years, its vigilance is still very high. In terms of diet, it is no different from other pandas. Apart from feeding on bamboo and bamboo shoots normally, it especially loves to eat apples, so it has a nickname called "Apple Chuan".
