Giant pandas are not afraid of cold and humidity and never hibernate. They live in dense bamboo forests at an altitude of approximately 1600 to 3500 meters, located in the high mountains and deep valleys of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The air is thin all year round, shrouded in clouds and mist, and they are the windward side of the southeast monsoon. The climate is cool and humid, with humidity often above 80% and temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius.
The activity areas of giant pandas are mostly in gentle slopes below 20 degrees, such as valleys, mountain depressions, and river valley terraces. These places have lush forests, good bamboo growth, relatively stable temperatures, good concealment conditions, and abundant food resources and water sources.
The distribution and density of giant pandas in the wild can also be influenced by factors such as the distribution of bamboo, terrain, water sources, whether there are hiding places, nests for feeding young, and mountain terrain. Human interference is the main factor affecting the distribution of giant pandas today.
